Updated Everything we've heard so far about iPhone 6

Apple made the screen bigger last time. Is an even bigger iPhone on the way?
The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C have been announced. So what does that mean for the iPhone 6?
Well,
we'll tell you. Or, at least, we'll tell you what we can glean from
rumor and speculation - some reliable, some not so much.
Given
the iPhone's history - from the 3G onwards, there's always been a
half-step S model before the next numbered iPhone - so it was no
surprise the 5S was first and so we're looking at 2014 for a new iPhone
6.
One thing is for sure, with potential refreshes of such super handsets as the Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia Z and HTC One, the next iPhone will have to seriously up its game.
iPhone 6 release date
The iPhone 6 release date will be in 2014. It will follow the iPhone 5S which will be released at the end of this week..
Jefferies analyst Peter Misek says that there will be a June 2014 release
for the iPhone 6. We reckon it will be later than that, around a year
after the 5S. Citi's Glen Yeung also believes that we won't see an
iPhone 6 until 2014, although that's no big leap.
Interestingly, in May 2013 Stuff reported
it received a photo of the till system at a Vodafone UK store (which it
has since removed along with the reference to Vodafone), with '4G
iPhone 6' listed.
So could we see both an iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 in quick succession? Some reports suggest a new 5S in the late part of the year before a revamped iPhone 6 very early in 2014. Apple may have a new roadmap, with new phones every spring and autumn
iPhone 6 casing
It's been suggested that there could even be three size variants of the new iPhone - check out these mocked up images
by artist Peter Zigich. He calls the handsets iPhone 6 Mini, iPhone 6
& iPhone 6 XL (these look rather like the iPhone 5C variant though).
However, as ZDNet rightly points out, different size variants aren't exactly easy to just magic out of thin air. Pretty, yes, but also horrifically scratch-prone. Will your next iPhone have a plastic back?
The iPhone 6 will finally do NFC
About time too. Well, that's what iDownloadblog reckons,
quoting Jefferies analyst Peter Misek. Many Android phones now boast
NFC and Apple appears to have been happy to be left behind here. See our video below on what Apple needs to do to slay Samsung's Galaxy S4
The iPhone 6 will run iOS 8
With iOS 7 heading out of the traps now, who's betting against the next iPhone coming with iOS 8?
We'd expect a September or October release date for iOS 8 in line with previous releases. iOS 7: what do you think?
iPhone 6 storage
We've already seen a 128GB iPad, so why not a 128GB iPhone 6? Yes, it'll cost a fortune, but high-spending early adopters love this stuff.
iPhone 6 home button
According to Business Insider,
of the many iPhone 6 prototypes Apple has made, one has a giant Retina+
IGZO display and a "new form factor with no home button. Gesture
control is also possibly included". It will surely include Apple's new
Touch ID finger print tech though?
iPhone 6 screen
The Retina+ Sharp IGZO display, would have
a 1080p Full HD resolution. It's also been widely reported that Apple
could introduce two handset sizes as it seeks to compete with the
plethora of Android devices now on the market.
Take this one with a pinch of salt, because China Times isn't always right: it reckons the codename iPhone Math,
which may be a mistranslation of iPhone+, will have a 4.8-inch display.
The same report suggests that Apple will release multiple handsets
throughout the year over and above the iPhone 5S and 6, which seems a
bit far-fetched to us.
Patents show that Apple has been thinking about magical morphing technology that can hide sensors and even cameras. Will it make it into the iPhone 6? Probably not.
Jefferies analyst Peter Misek also says he believes the new iPhone will have a bigger screen. Different sizes also seem rather likely to us - the word on the street after WWDC 2013 was that there would be 4.7 and 5.7-inch versions. You'll probably still be able to see the camera lens in the iPhone 6
iPhone 6 processor
Not
a huge surprise, this one: the next processor one will be a quad-core
A8 or an evolved A7. The big sell here is more power with better
efficiency, which should help battery life.
iPhone 6 camera
Apple's bought camera sensors from Sony before, and this year we're going to see a new, 13-megapixel sensor that takes up less room without compromising image quality. An Apple patent,
uncovered by Apple Insider in May 2013, shows a system where an iPhone
can remotely control other illuminating devices - extra flashes. It
would work in a similar manner to that seen in professional photography
studios. Interesting stuff. Will the iPhone 6 be handy for pro photographers? [Image credit: Apple Insider]
iPhone 6 eye tracking
One
thing seems certain - Apple can't ignore the massive movement towards
eye-tracking tech from other vendors, especially Samsung. It seems a
shoe-in that Apple will deliver some kind of motion tech within the next iPhone, probably from uMoove.
iPhone 6 wireless charging
Wireless charging still isn't mainstream. Could Apple help give it a push? CP Tech reports
that Apple has filed a patent for efficient wireless charging, but then
again Apple has filed patents for pretty much anything imaginable.
The tasty bit of this particular patent is that Apple's tech wouldn't just charge one device, but multiple ones. Here are more details on the iPhone 6 wireless charging patent.
Meanwhile, a further Apple patent seems to imply that future iPhones will be able to adjust volume as you move them away from your ear.
And could the iPhone 6 really have 3D? It's unlikely, but the rumours keep on coming.

The
NFC integration is a MUST with the iPhone6. An FM Tuner option (like
the HTC 4G EVO) would be a bonus, since interrnet radio (iHeart
Radio/Pandora/Songza/TuneIn) doesn't always work so well and isn't as
"live" as it claims to be). A higher pixel camera with an improved zoom
capability would be ideal considering how basically all consumers have
become "photographers" nowadays. And how about a 4-way arrow key or at
least one "back" arrow key on the keyboard in addition to the "delete"
key, since using one's finger isn't the easiest or most accurate way to
position the cursor in a specific spot of the paragraph or word? IJS. I
do have mixed opinions re: the screen size... While having a larger
screen would be impressive, having a sleek & slim phone is
convenient, as well. It can fit in pockets & purses easily, and for
those whom jog or workout, I'm sure they can appreciate NOT having a
"mini-Flat screen TV" (LOL) on their arm band or in their hand. Maybe a
solution to please all consumers is to make the rumor of multiple sizes
come true... now THAT would shut all competition down. Consumers
LOOOOOOVE choices!

I
don't really care about fingerprint sensor, eye tracking, NFC, being
able to answer call by waving hand over phone, being able to share pics
by touching phones, etc. I like iOS and iTunes. I would like to be able
to use a SD card to add memory and ability to swap out battery packs
(but not a deal breaker). The current camera is good. The one thing I'm
hoping for in the iPhone 6 is a larger screen. Also, not a deal breaker.
For me, the Galaxy S4 has many more cons (than pros). I would have fun
for a week or 2 trying to make it (S4) work like an iPhone but, in the
end, I like how my iPhone works. I'll probably stick with apple and wait
for the iPhone 6.

1. Good email login search send quick app with less buffer down time ease of access.
2. 4LTE better than HTC- A& quad Dual better than and twice speed of
HTC better resolution for camera pic and screen with tad wider and
longer options.
Make previous iPhone apps transferable to newer iphones with less hassle of download ect.
Make an accessory to add as portable projector screen for movies on the go!
Make a key lock feature that will help the use of pandora or ipod option
from muting or stopping songs when accidental touching of screen/iphone
while exercising.ie running cross fit ect..
A biometric security feature if apple picker " I phone thief steels I
phone to render obsolete"paper weight if taken. better more effective
tracker app with le interface that with verbal consent and proof of
ownership owners will provide real time link to tracker app and recover
said prized property.

I've
always been a samsung mobile phone users but the recent increase in
screen size has left me turning to apple. Although I have found some of
the basic things like the ease of using any song stored on the samsung
phone as a ringtone at a simple select and go option a strong pro and
wonder why apple has not put this basic function in. The large screen
sizes should be left to the tablet industry I don't want to drain my
battery watching a film etc. and be left phoneless as to say.

I
personally would like a bigger screen I have to wear reading glasses
now and it would make it easier to read, the ability to add a s-card for
more storage without having to pay a big price for the phone would also
be a great option. I also like being able to sync with my husband so
that we can keep track of events or appointments thru the calendar, and
photos.

well heres something new for everyone.
so i actually hate everything about apple i hate apple computers i hate
there os and i hate the iphones ios but i have grown to love my iphone
for 1 simple reason its soo sturdy and hardcore those phones can take an
*** kickin i mean i have had contract phones for years always the high
end as soon as it comes out and the iphone is the only one that could
keep up with me i mean hell i dropped that bad boy 10 storries from my
appartment in benidorm last year on my holiday not a scratch ok it had a
case but just a rubber one not a flip case or anything i thought for
sure it was a goner but when i got the elevator down he was lying there
on the floor still playing the music i had on and that's just one
occasion i have put my iphone through hell and back and i have never
seen another phone that can take beatings like iphones these new Samsung
galaxy's break if your too ugly for goodness sake but yh that is why i
and only why i love my iphone well maybe one more factor of the point of
android being a bit laggy sometimes and needing a reset but still hate
apple and there OS's lol

According
to
http://www.igeeked.com/iphone-6-release-date-price-features-to-expect-2013-08-11/
Apple should focus on Applications that will WOW the consumers. These
Applications should compliment the new hardwares of iPhone 5s/6

I'm
one of the few iPhone users that actually don't want a larger screen.
Every time I see someone with a Galaxy or some other large phone I have
to laugh! Those people look like idiots when they are talking on them,
it loos like they are using a tablet! I don't even know where you would
put it when you're on the go. I already have enough problems with my 4s
being a a bit on the big side with the cover on it. I have small hands
as I'm a girl. It's not really ideal for me to have a phone with a 5
inch screen. If I want a large screen I will get out my Kindle Fire or
iPad.

Apple
really knows how to captivate consumers and media via its teasing
rumors oriented marketing maneuver. And just recently, a creative artist
from behance has fantasized really exhilarating design concept of Apple
iPhone 6. Just adding to this context for the delight of all readers:
a real notification bar
eye tracking
13 m.p camera
i think samsung should sue..
seriosuly guys dont be like sheep, people are blindly following apple,
all this things are already there and out in the market, but iphone
users can never try something new, stubborn retards , i was one of you

Main
features I want from Apple are bigger screen, faster processor, longer
battery life, faster 4G LTE. Don't really need NFS, file transfer by
pressing phones together, answer phone by waving hand over it, change if
way apps are arranged on screen(s), widgets, eye tracking to pause
video playback, etc.

I
have an iPhone4s but am considering the Samsung Galaxy S4. Mainly
because of the bigger screen and the display format for Calendar and
Mail. But there are several features I don't like about Android/Galaxy. I
like iTunes and the ability to download/sync EVERYTHING and do backup
(to my PC) simply by connecting the iPhone to the PC with a docking
cable and pressing the Sync button. It seems to be a complicated manual
process with Android (I'm still researching apps that will simplify the
process). I use Cloud to sync my Calendar among my devices and Quicken.
Does Android use Cloud? Also, there are features of the Samsung Calendar
that behave weird to me or don't work the way I would like. Also,
arranging icons/apps on the home screen and other screens on Android
phones behaves weird to me. There are many features that Android phones
have, that aren't currently on iPhones, that I don't need. Actually, I'm
having a difficult time trying to convince myself that Android/Samsung
Galaxy should be my next phone. It looks neat but the "Cons" list is
much longer than the "Pros" list. I think I'll wait to see what the
iPhone 6 looks like before deciding. Main features I want from Apple are
big

My desire in sharing my testimony is so others do not make the mistake I made.
I have been a loyal iPhone customer since the very first one and I bought each one except the 4s, I waited for the 5.
I wanted a bigger screen and was tempted by the hype of the Galaxy
Notebook 11. So I traded in my iPhone 5 at the AT&T store for it.
What a MISTAKE!
Where do I start;
-It did not come with visual voice mail.
-The GPS can't function while taking a call without having to restart it
if it will without locking up or saying "GPS has shut down".
-The signal strength is much weaker than the iPhone.
-The bigger screen I thought I could use actually gave much less room to
text or type than my iPhone because the text box window is tiny. Huge
bummer!
-The email function is Stone Age.
-The typing always puts wrong letters up.
-It truly runs slow going back in forth between applications even after I close them and start fresh.
I could go on and on.
The main thing I hated about my iPhone was when I put a name like
John by a contact using "custom" it would never keep it over time and
the screen was smaller than I'd like but, guess what? I'm going to quit
whining over a couple little issues on the iPhone lick my wounds and go
back to the FaithFul iPhone. Even the first iPhone ever made is better
than the best Galaxy Notebook 11 has to offer. No Joke.
Please don't be upset, it is a heart felt truth.

Craig
Federighi said at the #WWDC2013 about #AirDrop "No need to be
bumbing your phone around the room to share your stuff"
So that gives us an information that the next #iPhone will not have #NFC.

Hi,
I decided to register as I wanted to add my 2 cents...
First of all i havent seen any OFFICIAL iPhone 5s or 6 announcments.
I dont like rumors like that. I apologize to all Apple lovers but
speculations or "fan art" about something that simply dont exist is just
distasteful.
Photoshoping IPhone 5 moving camera lens to the left or streatching
current iPhone picture and calling it iPhone 6 is just ridiculous.
I'm also sorry for Apple that they let you down issuing iPhone 5 which
is technologically 5 years behing HTC or Samsung but lets face it... you
love Apple? If your the Apple lover, you will have to wait until there
is new iPhone out or change the brand.. cheating yourself that iPhone 5
has all you need , yet craving other phones gadgets wont do any good to
you .

OK
as a old lady here is my two cents,,,,I use all apple products,,,MAC
book,,,Ipad and iphone ,,,Love my mac,,,Love my ipad (mini),,,Apple
needs to do some catching up with us older folks,,,we need bigger
screen,,,my hubby has the new samsung and it is a awesome phone,,,,big
KEY PADS for fatter fingers and a larger screen!! APPLE STEP UP!!
Considering the economy younger people cant afford to get a new
phone every 6 months so they have to wait for their 2 year upgrades with
their mobile carriers ,,,,This is where another problem is,,,,Either
stop coming out with these mini upgrades on the phone and come out with a
BIG one once a year,,,or figure out a way for the consumer to be able
to get the new phone when it comes out !!! Some people dont understand
why we have to pay all this money a month for a cell phone bill and then
buy a phone too!!! Maybe cell phone companies should be their own cell
providers,,,,just a thought......
I miss one thing!!! WIDGETS....I wish apple would do something like
have the app icons on the screen but we could pick what we want to stay
open on each page ,,,,or maybe something like be able to see ur icons
and have what u open come up as a mini screen with the app icons around
it so u dont have to keep pressing the button to close the app and
reopen another ,,,,if you made a mistake u could just click on the app
icon u want and the app u had open closed automatically,,,,then if it is
the app you want to stay on ,,,double click it and it gets bigger to
cover the whole screen for viewing !!!
As for charging your products,,APPLE shame on you !!! you skrewed me
and my ihome,,,,most ihomes when you put that adapter on wont make your
phone steady and it could break!!! where the heck are the new ihomes
for the 5??? No adapters,,,,STICK with the SAME charging ports!!!

Many disappointing comments bagging the hell out of Apple, yet extolling the virtues of Samsung and/or Android.
Regardless of all of that, the focus of the article was/is about what
features could or should be part of the iPhone and iOS update.
Yes, I freely admit to owning several iPhones after a dismal experience with Android way back before the iPhone 3 era.
The one issue Apple has is one product, with one OS, as a-posed to
Samsung, HTC, Sony-Ericsson, LG, Motorola, and of course the Nexus to
name a few, ALL using one OS as well, but having the freedom to tweak
and tickle it to differentiate their products from each other.
Many of my friends and work colleagues have various brands sporting
several iterations of Android, and my work supplies Windows 8 phones,
and of course the many who have iPhones. ALL of them function well for
about 90% of the things we all use them for; there are a very few people
who insist on their personalisations and widgets. Some have ditched
their Samsung's or LG's and gone to iPhone and reckon it's the best
thing they every did; others visa versa.
I suppose it's the same deal when we compare cars, or what sort of wine we prefer: we do what we like that suits ourselves best.
For me, I've never understood why the WiFi, Bluetooth, airplane mode,
and privacy settings were not on a "swipe left" or "press home button"
when on the home screen, or even the notifications swipe pane; or a
better app dock, or even a swipe up/or down/or what ever direction that
would bring up an intuitive screen of my most commonly used apps.
I don't understand why Messages and Facetime need to be two separate apps.
Since I'm an Aussie bloke with big hands, I could do with a screen that
is 5 app icons wide instead of 4, and finally I DO NOT WANT FLASH! Flash
should die.
Apple had/has a very valid and reasonable rational for not supporting it
on iOS, and is has a lot to do with the 'sandboxing' security features
of both iOS and OS X. Flash is resource hungry both on a web page and
the device that runs required plugins, and with the advent of HTML5, an
increasing number of web developers no longer need Flash. I've got Adobe
CS5 currently, and used previous versions which include Flash
Developer, and since CS5 have never used it. None of my customers need
nor want Flash.
For those who complain about not having a blank home screen, I don't
know what you're on about. I have a family photo on mine and all my apps
begin on the second screen.
If there is one other device on the market right now that I'd consider
ditching my iPhone for it's the HTC One! The Samsung just has far too
many gimmicks that wow the toy boys for a week or so but inevitably
relegated to the trunk as a tricky toy with out real purpose.

I
was so proud when I got my Iphone 4S. To me it was the be all and end
all of phones. Now I envy people with the Iphone 5, I wonder if I
should have gotten the Samsung galaxy 4, Now there is the Iphone 6 which
will have so many features I probably won't understand them all. (But I
will have them). My dillema is "When do I stop upgrading my phone?"c

i
think the biggest debate for apple is if they're going to use the next
IOS update to "Force Obsolete" the iphone 4 or at least reduce it's
functionality.. I don't get how people are letting apple continue to use
their IOS updates to stop support for some handsets that are only 3
updates old. Even Android still supports phones that are 8 updates old. I
hate that my family has a drawer full of old iphones & ipods that
can't even download a single app without getting the "IOS 5" notice. I
refuse to continue giving apple my hard earned money if this is the way
they're going to treat users. Maybe others could care less but I'm not
one of them. Apple owners are being taken advantage of & people need
to complain, Loudly.!!

Having
read the majority of the comments below, I cannot believe that I am the
only person to be having the following thought...there is one reason
and one alone for choosing iPhone over any other Android based phone:
iTunes! I disliked the iPhone 4 so much that I decided I'd get a Galaxy
S(whatever number it will be up to) with my next free upgrade. Then a
lady at work asked me to set up her S3 for her, and download a couple of
tunes and a ringtone. After a couple of hours I decided that my
pre-smartphone loyalty to Samsung had evapourated. Google Play is an
appalling thing to use! iTunes is SOOOO simple that even an old fool
like me can use it. Everything is in one place, it's easy to use, and
even though it no longer fits on my laptop screen properly, it is still
massively superior to the alternative. SO, in conclusion, whilst I'd
love the iPhone 6(?) to be the same size as the S3/4, and have more than
16/32gb memory, I'll still be taking it over any other phone.
........Until Samsung comes out with it's own operating system :)
